Yubiz is a novel web–based platform that offers a collection of tools and services designed to help young entrepreneurs to create their business, promote their ideas, find support and establish relationships. Its purpose is to offer these young entrepreneurs the basic building blocks required to run their business. The Yubiz platform is backed up by real people that will contribute into the platform by offering advice on multiple areas such as legal, accounting and financial, business and marketing, conflict resolution, IPR, technical etc.
i-Vee is a mobile game that sets out to explore the value of volunteerism through fun, casual gameplay. The ultimate goal of the game is to inspire and encourage players to get more involved in the life of their community through volunteering. Developed by Cyprus Family Planning Association and Egypt Foundation for Youth and Development in partnership with Cocoon Creations, i-Vee strives to become a powerful new medium for promoting volunteerism in the Eastern Mediterranean region and beyond.
The construction of the first purpose-built shelter will offer increased and improved standards of accommodation, security and other supporting services to people who experience physical and psychological abuse and who are in danger from their immediate family environment. Violence can cause significant and long-term injuries, both physical and psychological, which are difficult to heal, especially for children. Children experiencing violent circumstances suffer severe consequences as their psychological and physical development might be affected.
The project’s objective is to promote the sexual rights of teens through implementation of mandatory human rights based Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in middle schools in Cyprus. Challenges to implementation of CSE have consistently led to failure of the subject to be taught adequately, especially from a human rights perspective.
The project promotes democratic values and human rights—freedom of thought, expression and anti-discrimination—through the design and implementation of an arts educational programme addressing the needs and problems of the local community. It focuses on a multicultural area with families of diverse income, creating a link between Point Centre for Contemporary Art (www.pointcentre.org), and the near-by Eleneio: a historic municipal primary school, battling poverty, xenophobia, and diminishing enrolments, in an area of increasing gentrification and social inequality.
The Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO), along with the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Cyprus Family Planning Association and the Dias Publishing House Public Ltd, through the particular project aim at educating the adolescent population in Cyprus as well as educating the school counsellors of the Ministry of Education and Culture on the issues of “building healthy relationships”. SPAVO’s database indicates statistical significant raise of incidents regarding domestic violence.
The key objective of Empower Youth is to assist youth become more aware of the many challenges in setting up and running a successful business and the ways to overcome them. Youth unemployment is high. Most Cyprus businesses do not invest in training and/or developing their employees, nor do they provide students from universities / secondary schools with opportunities to learn at workplace. Many young people, to avoid long term unemployment, eventually try to set up their own business with high risk of failure, as many of them never had any prior exposure to entrepreneurial thinking.
This initiative aimed to promote reconciliation by bringing communities together to discuss and jointly address the Human Rights situation of Youth across the island. It also aimed to improve the Human Rights situation of vulnerable Youth in Cyprus, especially with regard to economic and social rights.
This initiative aimed to develop mutual trust, confidence and cooperation between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot young people and their communities through joint activities that promote reconciliation and wellness. The activities were aimed at improving inter-group attitudes, decreasing stereotyping and prejudice, training young educators to use sport to promote reconciliation and wellness, and equipping them with tools to make healthy living choices and live better, more peaceful lives.
This initiative aimed to contribute to enhancing reconciliation, peaceful co-existence, tolerance and creative problem-solving awareness and skills of diverse segments of Cypriot communities by bringing young and adult artists of the Cypriot communities together to discuss, produce, and express views on the Cyprus problem and the societal problems it effects.
