Capacity Development is the process through which people, organisations, and societies systematically develop their abilities and become more self-reliant. It involves improving knowledge, skills, systems and institutions and it is often achieved through training, raising public awareness, and encouraging networking and co-operation.

The RENEWAL Project is focused on developing the economic and social potential of the Greater Famagusta Region (including Famagusta Walled City and Deryneia), striving to support the improvement of the climate for reconciliation. It aims to enhance collaboration among civil society stakeholders, facilitate youth entrepreneurship through empowerment and networking opportunities and lastly, lay the soft infrastructure for business development which will lead to the improvement of economic potential of the region.

Build Peace 2015

Build Peace explores how information and communications technologies, games, networking platforms and other technology tools can enhance the impact of a broad range of peacebuilding, social cohesion and peace advocacy initiatives. The conference and community bring together local peacebuilders and technologists to re-think approaches to early warning and crisis response, attitude and behavior change, collaboration, dialogue, and policy advocacy. The first conference took place in Boston, MA in 2014.

The Womenpower (WE-ME) platform intends to link women mentors and mentees together to increase collaboration, support and solidarity between different generations of women. Through Womenpower, young women get the opportunity to receive support with regard to self-improvement, self-esteem, personal and social power and solidarity from experienced women in their field. In a nutshell, it is expected to provide women with practical advice on how to deal with difficulties in their personal and professional lives in order to promote their professional development.

Strengthening MOKAS capacities and improve efficiency to detect money laundering and financing of terrorism

The project is of great importance as it aims to protect society from financial crime, by increasing citizen security through improvement of the capacity and efficiency of cooperation between law enforcement authorities and Financial Intelligence Units (FIU) in the Donor states and Cyprus and at international level, in order to prevent and combat cross-border and organised crime and in particular money laundering and terrorist financing. The overall objective is to automate the analysis and investigation procedure of MOKAS, by implementing an IT system for supporting MOKAS’ core activities.

Home for Cooperation

The project aims to ensure the sustainability of the H4C which shall contribute to the bridge building between the Greek and Turkish communities in Cyprus. The expected outcome of the project is to strengthen the capacity of NGOs to promote an enabling environment for the sector. This will be achieved through the support of the operational expenses of the H4C, the development of an organized dialogue on history teaching by the AHDR and the facilitation by the H4C of outreach activities for civil society organisations.

Implementing Mandatory Sexuality Education for Teens

Cans for Kids (C4K) will mentor Cyprus Green Action Group (CGAG) so that TOGETHER WE CAN recycle more used beverage cans (UBCs) for a cleaner Cyprus. This will save tons of UBCs from polluting landfills and reduce Cyprus’ carbon footprint: Recycling an aluminum can saves 96% of the energy used to make a new one. While the Turkish-Cypriot community recycles some materials, recycling UBCs is a new venture.

A BrEaST start in life: addressing social inequalities and supporting breastfeeding through inclusion activities

In the present environment of globalization, increased competition and economic crises, the idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) becomes increasingly important. The project will enhance NGOs’ socially responsible behavior, in order to help such organisations to become aware of implementing and addressing the principles of CSR and the related ISO 26000 standard. The main objective of the project is to embed the principles of CSR in the day-to-day activities of NGOs. A CSR Model framework for NGOs will be developed as part of the project.
